
Brian Hurst is Co-founder and CIO of ClearAlpha, he sets the firm’s strategy and leads its portfolio management and trading teams. Before starting ClearAlpha™, Brian was the first non-Founding Partner at AQR Capital Management. Over 21 years at AQR, he worked as a portfolio manager, researcher, and head of trading. Brian helped design and build AQR’s trading platform and managed more than $15 billion in hedge fund assets. He also served on various committees, including the Strategic Planning Committee and the Risk Committee. Brian was Cliff Asness’ first hire in the Quantitative Research Group at Goldman Sachs Asset Management (GSAM), where he conducted research and developed technology for the Global Alpha Fund. Across decades of experience, Brian has managed a variety of multi-asset portfolios through many market environments. He is a member of the Yale New Haven Children’s Hospital Council and holds a BS in Economics from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
Sean Terretta is Co-founder and CTO of ClearAlpha, he leads the firm’s trading, research, and client technology development, as well as its entrepreneurial operating model. An experienced engineering executive, Sean has a background in financial services innovation. Prior to ClearAlpha™, he was CTO of MUFG Americas (and member of its Risk Committee), Chief Architect for Tech Strategy and Incubation at Bridgewater Associates, and founded high-tech and global scale startups across various industries. As an inventor of SaaS, security, and cloud building blocks, Sean has served on Microsoft’s Internet Advisory Board, Amazon Web Services’ Customer Advisory Board, and the Cloud Native Computing Foundation’s Financial Services SIG.
